Morning Zen

I have started and wiped out about six different Zen's this morning. Nothing seems to work. No completeness or things not yet known. Strange.

Istvan Gallery Grand Opening this Friday, November 9

Istvan Gallery will open at 1218 N. Western on November 9 from 6 to 11 p.m., with an evening reception that will be open to the public. We will have an open house on Saturday November 10 from 11 to 6 p.m., and Sunday November 11 from 11 to 5 p.m.

The gallery will feature installations by local artists, ranging from sculptors and glass blowers to artists who work in oil, acrylic, watercolor and other media. Featured artists will be Skip Hill and Alyson Atchison.

SKIP HILL will be making a rare presentation of his drawings which combine African American heroes, Folk Art, Kuba tribal textures, and the styles of Romae Bearden, Picasso and Van Gogh.

ALYSON ATCHISON will be showing her first new work in almost two years. Atchison's one–of-a-kind serigraphs are colorful, loud and deceptively pretty. As she confesses, her work is largely autobiographical and has a darker, emotive aspect underneath the pretty surface colors.

Morning Zen

To be defined by a moment, a word or a thought. Philosophy of living. and being. It is a way. Maybe like the bumpers on the gutters at the bowling alley. We roll down the lane and strait and spinning and going forward sometimes with a sway toward something there at the end of the boards. Sometimes we wobble and shift and head off the wrong direction. Good fortune has provided for us bumpers to knock us back into the alley to continue. Maybe to slowdown a bit but getting us back on track. Oh yes, sometimes the bumpers are not there and we end up in the gutter. But the ball returns most of the time and we get to roll again.
I am really not a bowler.

Morning Zen

Mountain tops and valleys. We seek the mountain top to find enlightenment but we can not live there. Living occurs in the valleys filled with the abundance. The valley is not low. the mountain top is not high. They are places. The seeking they say is the problem. Stop seeking. Be content in the location of your dreams at this moment.

Darjeeling Unlimited

Wes Anderson makes movies. They are typically unique and insightful. I am a fan. I don't know much but I like his works. Darjeeling is really very good. Characters, development, acting, nuance. Little things. Whereas in Zissou I felt like I was watching an inside joke and I was on the outside, this one is like hanging out with old friends. I highly recommend this film too bad it is only on at one theater in the metro area.
