The Tower of Glass

Looking up at the Chihuly installation at the OKCMOA. We begin our classes with a tour of the Chihuly exhibit. It is really great fun and there is always something new to see at the museum.

...even the once crystal clear becomes dusty....developes a scum from the environment....from the society....the mind and glass....the self and glass....

dust it often....renew....clean off the scum...avoid the scum altogether whenever possible and maintenance of life becomes less costly.....harmony and renewal....jj

Cool picture, dude and sounds like a fun class.

Yo, jj, Scum? Seems like a harsh and inappropriate descrptive word for a simple and innocent picture attached to a fun topic...very harsh indeed.

ahhh....the point is missed....
if you have a crystal clear goblet ....allow it to sit undisturbed for months on end...years if you like....then take if from the high shelf in your kitchen....examine it....you will find the scum and the dust of life....
if you would like a further example ask the keepers at the museum to allow you to examine the pieces as they are indivilually cleaned....I think it take a few weeks to clean the Chihuly piece in the picture here....also think of the dusting and the cleaning on a regular basis at the studio there....so it is with life.....renewal and attentiveness to the drifting we do in life....we need to take inventory....rethink areas in our minds ( lives....for indeed all of life is in the mind )....the body is just a vessel which needs maintenance....
think of the mind as that glass left on the upper shelf....
if a house keeper is asking I refer to that shelf above the cupboards....that is where the minds of most people are located....on that shelf above the cupboards....harsh? Take a look at the shelf on top of the cupboards....what a nasty greasy mess most of these become over time.......
take care of the mind and life, and existence will be longer in general than the unkept glass on the top shelf....
...make the dead end as far from you as possible....for in real harshness...all lives are dead ends.
.......when and if the opportunity occurs, trade the "Raftman" ....your "Success Principles.." for his "Finding meaning...."....you made a statement, or started to one evening....I said nothing and maybe should have.....
best wishes for happiness and harmony.....balance....usually somewhat centered....jj

...that which is most precious we store on the top shelf...where....if left undisturbed it collects the dust and scum of daily existance...on the other hand...keep it in a low place where its beauty may be observed by all.....tend to its maintenance...and though it may get dropped and broken....its beauty was observed and its existence was appreciated....
in a similar manner, a heart....
what is the saying...nothing ventured nothing gained....
the intent must be noble the the result may not always be as expected....experienced.....

missed indeed. you got me with the scum on the top kitchen shelf. I wish I could stay on my high horse and say I dust so often my glass does not get to a point of having scum, but upon closer examination, that is not so true...on many levels. We think we are covering all things equally and diligently but those hard to reach places are generally overlooked and usually intentionally if even unconsciously. Yes, a bit scummy indeed.
