Morning Zen

Happenings. Events in life that are events in life. Defining moments that in the moment were just moments. Etched into memory of thought and body those moments embedded like a tattoo upon our psyche, scars forming patterns, stars making the constellations of our souls.

AHHHHH, Memories. What to keep, what to toss. What enlightens, what scars...When pondering such deep thoughts, it is good to see what the Masters of the Universe think, those who have truly lead eventful lives and have been a part of major events....

Interviewer: Are there any years completely missing from the Richards noggin?

Keith Richards: No, but there are certain chicks...

(guess that coconut tree didn't injure the important brain parts)

"...etched into memory..."

even the tattoos fade....even the tattoos change shape....interpreted by an observer, over the years it may appear as something other than it was originally intended...

so it is also with the mind...the memories fade somewhat change shape if you will, and they change meaning, that which is most important....for an event that seemed "etched upon my mind" may, in fact, be of significance when it occurred, but may have much less meaning when glanced at from the rear view mirror...it may even become reversed, as in the rear view mirror, or may appear distorted, as viewed from that side mirror......objects ( happenings in this case ) may appear larger ( or smaller ) than they are.....

so it is with memory....and again, memory is becomes an oblique object when tainted by emotion.....

think of the things one hears about in reference to another's experiences...how it sounds bad, or we sympathize with the person, but cannot really experience the true feeling...however, when it happens to oneself, it becomes true reality hits home...and sometimes not.

happiness and harmony....those elusive qualities of life....we make them more difficult to achieve than need be....

best memories....
