Morning Zen

Belief - i wonder at belief. Thought and philosophy give baisis to our belief taught and engrained sinse birth. Exploring the world finding our individual voice listening and learning from elders and teachers and preachers and peers. Becoming who we are finding comfort there and learning love and peace and striving not to repeat mistakes learning to do life in a better way.

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true. [paraphrased]

The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen.
Frank Lloyd Wright

Myths which are believed in tend to become true.
George Orwell

Nothing else matters much -- not wealth, nor learning, nor even health -- without this gift: the spiritual capacity to keep zest in living. This is the creed of creeds, the final deposit and distillation of all important faiths: that you should be able to believe in life.
Harry Emmerson Fosdick

...and what do I believe? a day can be just a speck, less than a moment and at the same time an eternity. Its all in perspective. Are you looking at life from atop the hill or from down in the trenches?

We see what we want to see and we believe what we want to believe and our perspective constantly changes it all.
