13th Birthday

We had six young ladies in the studio this evening making beads in celebration of a 13th birthday. Great fun, and nobody got burned.

Movie Quote Friday

The first one to get the movie and character is the big winner. Oh yes, on this quote we could have multiple winners...

"How do you like them apples?"

Coffee Musings

Wondering if in matters of the spirit it is possible to over reach, that is to say is it like opening a dozen coffee shops in a ten mile radius? somehow i do not think so. One. The world. Can never have enough spirit. just have to remind myself to allow that spirit to grow and evolve as i hopefully do.

Morning Zen

Do the next right thing. What is next. What needs to be completed. What steps next to move forward. I think it was the illusion of movement. Being stuck on high center and yet feeling like progress was being made. The engine was running but really no progress was being made. No backward either tho so comfort can be taken there. Comfort. That was a key. Why change out of comfort. Why do anything different. Action came from discomfort. the paradox to drive us. And so it is.

Morning Zen

Existing, existence, exist, cool word. lots of different places it can go. Not sure what that means. Thought of the exist until the next paycheck. Waiting hoping holding in place. Living for the paycheck, until the paycheck. It is not a fair assessment of life but the living we have chosen as a society and as a people and as a personal way of life. I have chosen to work and live and purchase and consume. And yes I stretched it as thin as good filo dough.
So how to be "advanced" and free of the constraints of society and living?

just words

Words by Robert Hunter; music by Jerry Garcia.
("Ripple" composed and written by Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter. Reproduced by arrangement with Ice Nine Publishing Co., Inc. (ASCAP))

If my words did glow with the gold of sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp unstrung
Would you hear my voice come through the music
Would you hold it near as it were your own?

It's a hand-me-down, the thoughts are broken
Perhaps they're better left unsung
I don't know, don't really care
Let there be songs to fill the air

Ripple in still water
When there is no pebble tossed
Nor wind to blow

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty
If your cup is full may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain
That was not made by the hands of men

There is a road, no simple highway
Between the dawn and the dark of night
And if you go no one may follow
That path is for your steps alone

You who choose to lead must follow
But if you fall you fall alone
If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home

I really do not know why that is so very central. I hear those words often in my head. I go to write and those are the words that spill forth.
I think at times I was touched by an unseen force and altered in a way that can not be explained. The universe and my perceptions of it forever bent. And then with the past and growing up and the cultivation of the self. How different would those words be on a tabla rosa. If the slate were blank when they were written on the soul. Instead imposed and altered by the self.

Morning Zen

"There is a feeling I get when I look to the west..." And from the west comes the lesson. Charging into our lives like a great thunder, rolling against the once tranquil sky. Or silent and barely known as a warm spring breeze. The lesson comes. It is our choice to do with it or not. To learn from it or not. Much to much.

Delving into the aspects of the self which allow production of the dream. Lately I have had some strange ones. Days of old creeping into a live of today. Radically different from then and now. Why is it I get the overwhelming impulse to go live on beach.
