Things to Come
Riding the Digital Wave
Greetings Sequoyah,

We all know things are about to change. Changes in the district, changes in the school, changes in technology, changes in curriculum. We just do not know what the changes are going to entail. How do we prepare for the unknown?

In looking at David Jakes website http://jakes.editme.com/9dots
I started thinking about the experts in our building. Folks that have gone to conferences, attended EdCamps, took a wicked cool vacation. We need to tap the resources we have now to transform into what is to come.

Remember Andy's session on note taking? How do we adopt those notes into digital form for students to create, save, and share. Can we take our experiences like this and in small groups begin to develop resources for all our teachers?

It is really time when we can no longer say I do not know how to do that yet, to I am learning how to do it now. We know best practices. How can we transform our best practices into our modern learning landscape?

Let us know what we can do to help prepare each other for the big kahuna waves that are coming.

Thanks and don't forget to be awesome,

Andy

Class Twitter Account
Rethinking Communication
Greetings Sequoyah,

We have been really embedding technology into our lessons and lives over the past few months. It is time to revisit the prospect of implementing a class twitter account. This is a great way to share information with students, parents, teachers, and the administration. Remind students of tests and homework. Answer questions, give updates, play games, and more. Take a look again at this great article for more ideas.

SAMR
Redefine Our Lessons
Greetings Sequoyah,

For some reason I think of a ham sandwich whenever I see SAMR. Maybe sam on rye? Or the way the model is stacked? Or maybe I am just hungry? Anyway.

Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition
As we move forward into technology it will be necessary to look to SAMR as a pathway to change. How can we transform our teaching and our technology use to evolve to higher states. I read a great Hattie quote on twitter yesterday in that it is no wonder technology has not really impacted learning as we use it for nothing more then data gathering.

Get started on SAMR with Common Sense Media https://www.commonsensemedia.org/videos/introduction-to-the-samr-model
It is a great website for a wide variety of topics too.

Thanks and don't forget to be awesome,

Andy

Learning Narritives
Greetings Sequoyah,

If you do not have a WordPress blog it is an easy way to put your thoughts out into the universe. It is also easy to follow other WordPress bloggers. One of them we should all be following is the school blog from Cimarron Middle School. Our very own Gabe Schmidt is the guest author at the Cimarron blog this week.

Good stuff: https://epscimarron.wordpress.com/2016/01/24/controlling-the-climate/

Thanks and don't forget to be awesome,
