GPS ing today. It is great fun. I really would love to work up a presentation for the OTA conference but alas. I am left all alone in my room at school while all the technology people I know are off learning and growing. My district does not really seem to support technology. This can be seen in the fact that I am not at OTA perhaps the best technology conference in the state. I also wonder if anyone from my district is even represented there. I did like it when OTA was in June. Missing school is difficult for teachers.
I went to 42 st Candy Co. yesterday. I had a dark chocolate bar with espresso beans inside. What a treat. Double rush.
Stay cool.

Yahoo! News - PC of the Future
For all you on the cutting edge of technology and Moore's Law. This is good stuff. I think the schools are going to be way behind in just a very short amount of time. I mean we are already way behind. I can't imagine what it will be like in three years. All of the machines we currently have in our buildings will be obsolete. All of the networking and infrastructure we put in will be worthless in five years? What you you all think?

Working in class. sort of...Where is our leader? gone, gone. what are we to do. Drifting. lost. Where oh where? Lost, adrift, I am like Tom Hanks in Castaway, Where did Wilson go?
Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.
Welcome back, To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)
Yeah we tease him a lot cause we've got him on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Well, Spring Break is over. Can you believe it? I met with the girls on Monday. After that I did no more work on my paper. Ouch. Busy today after school trying to get it knocked out.
Great break. It makes me wish sometimes that I could just play all the time.

Welcome to Caffeine Awareness. Sponsors of National Caffeine Awareness Month.
I think this site is a joke. I am not sure. Better look. go there now.
Plan for the week ahead. I think we have a schedule for the glass studio. It looks to be a good one. I think we are going to take a day and clean up the yard too. We have a lot to move around and get organized. I am going to try to get a pathway poured too. I think it will help to have a clean solid walkway down to the barn. I have a family of young men who do work for us from time to time and hope they can come out and do the grunt work.
Cleaning and grinding of pieces too. We need to get some pieces boxed up and ready in case we make it in the Paseo show. We have a bunch of stuff that can go on a $10 table. I am not sure what people will want either.
Once again putting off class work for the university. I know that once I jump in and get it done it will not be too bad. It is just getting to the point of doing it. It is like swimming at 6:30 a.m. The water is cold. It is inevitable. Just do it.

How do you stay calm in the middle of a storm? Where do you go inside to protect yourself from the debris? First time in while that I have had a student be abrasive. "I hate this class and I hate the teacher." Ask a question and get "why?" in response. I tried to let it wash over me. Do not let it stir any reaction. Smile and say thank you. Yes it is offensive but thank you for sharing. Answer a question with "why?" Another one asked if I were a Buddhist because I was being so peaceful.
That then begs for an answer. I do not know what I am. Many things I suppose. Can one be all things. Can one take things from everything and combine it to one? Does one need to only have devotion to one philosophy? I understand that a committment to one belief system will allow the individual to become totally emerged in that way. With that way of being transforming the individual because of the complete faith. When we take something of a philosophy without completely understanding the whole of the thing it is therefore lessened. Taking a part, perhaps the best parts, out of context then the system becomes bastardized. But often we only take what we like the leave the rest. How many of us really accept the whole of the belief system to which we ascribe?
Is it possible to be a christian, taoist, muslim, jew, krishna, animist, aboriginal, universalist? and who would want too? I know some people active in this project. Interesting stuff.
I am not questioning my faith, or any one elses. Just the nature of the faith. I heard once that you have to question. In questioning you really learn what you believe. In knowing what we believe we grow.
Things to ponder on this glorious day instead of studying for a test this afternoon.
Peace

All this time I have been thinking the Karma Grrl was into going into grave yards and looking at headstones. There is a great one over at the Rose Lawn at Western and Grand. D'eath. it is a huge, red abstract thing. One of my favorite tombs.
I have too much homework. I think I will be busy over Spring Break just catching up. Sometimes I wish I were more dedicated. Putting off work to surf on the blog, to drive around, to blow glass, to eat, to sleep, to just watch tv, to do anything except the things that are required.

I made a post on Friday and it did not show. It was a cool website link. I do not know why it disappered.
Wondering? Can I really sound like Carrie with questions in a blog? She could come up with such cool things to say that would encase an entire episode. Crazy.
How about the bear? What does that mean. I am reminded of Ghost Dog again. The bear. You do not see many of those big black bears anymore. Is that why you shoot them? The Bear in ancient cultures was equal to man. Is the bear within us? Is it the manifestation of what we wish to become? Can we let loose the bear within to be tribal in an individual society? Where is the clan, i.e. family, in realtion to the bear? What medicine does the bear bring? Healing of the heart, healing of the soul. The bear is the healer. The bear brings together again those things that have been torn from us. The medicine of the bear is the root. Perhaps he is there to show us the root of the problem, the causes, the things which grow from the seeds.
They say then that the seeds we nourish withus are the seeds that grow. We can choose to water and nurture the seeds of love, peace, harmony, equinimity within and without us. We can choose to grow the seeds of hatred, anger and discontent and those are the ones which will grow and foster. Choose. All the seeds are within us. It is up to us as individuals and as a group, a society, a clan to grow the seeds of change within each other. Which seeds do I show you by example?

the studio

why do I have to shrink and go away so someone else gets to grow?"
