Technology tips and tricks on a regular basis. View this email in your browser The Tipping Point Get On Board Greetings Sequoyah,  Malcolm Gladwell  wrote The Tipping Point fifteen years ago. The book discusses the concept of critical mass. When enough people begin to do a thing everything changes. It reminds me of the story of the 100th monkey. Having not read the book I am not sure of content but the idea behind it.  In Education we are at a tipping point with technology. There are groups of people integrating technology in life: The Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority, and Laggards. The chart from 2009 shows the early adopters on twitter. Six years later we are looking at late adopters and laggards. It is interesting that the hot trend in education right now is twitter. Educators are using twitter to build a Professional Learning Community and connections with other educators around the world. It is a great tool.  I think that educational technology in and of itself is following this trend so apparent in Twitter. I think back to the days of innovators with the OKTechMasters program. The OKTechMasters consisted of a small group of educators going out into the classroom and teaching teachers how to use technology. We were on the vanguard of a movement then. The program lasted two or three years and the grant funding the project expired. TTT - Inktober

Technology tips and tricks on a regular basis. View this email in your browser Inktober Draw Everyday Greetings Sequoyah,  There is a great movement during the month of October. The objective is to draw everyday. Upload the drawing to the internet and tag it with the hashtag #inktober. The website http://inktober.com/ describes the project and process.  This could make for a great extension in class. Have students illustrate a concept or event. TTT - YouTube SmartBoards

They are used in a variety of ways. Most polling indicates it is really a glorified white board. TTT - Twitter

View this email in your browser Twitter Follow Interesting People  Greetings Sequoyah,  Driving in Monday morning and listening to KOSU the Morning Edition had an interview with Ruth Reichl. I really like food and enjoyed the cooking aspect on the interview. It moved onto the shuttering of the magazine Gourmet of which she was the editor. How to move on from it and her feelings and reactions. She talked about twitter and a group of chef's on twitter, a scattered audience, and support system. She said something I really liked in "I found a voice in Twitter I didn't know I had." I searched the truck for a scrap piece of paper. I found a notebook. I remember my phone and voice to text so I opened Google Keep. Hit the microphone and spoke that phrase before I forgot it.
