OTA Conference

The OTA conference is in full swing. I am wondering about much in technology. Amazed how many people have "devices" for access. It is really progressive.
Random thoughts
Folks want wireless in the classroom and yet the schools themselves do not have wireless devices nor will they provide them. Leaving all the wireless need to the individual to provide.
Folks like David Warlick and Wes Fryer have information everywhere. It is amazing they have been able to catalogue and keep vast amounts of resources. Feeling the need to consolidate and publish for others to access.
Thinking what to present. It is not new to me so I wonder what good would it do to present and realize that it may be new to others. Finding something to present is the trick.

OTA

Tuesday and Wednesday is the OTA conference. It is usually a great conference. Lot's of information and a great time to network with other technology minded educators. New ideas abound. Always a drawback is to see the next cool thing for the classroom and know the district does not have any money to invest.

Housing and Banks

So I have been wondering if banks own all the houses that were foreclosed upon why do they keep them? I assume that the house is not worth as much so the banks are creating an artificially high standard for loans thus keeping hold of the houses until the market price increases again and the houses can be sold for a higher profit.
The bank just has to wait out the current market. Of course houses fall into disrepair during this time which will put general contractors and handymen to work when the houses sell.
The cycle on this is odd too. Just a for instance.
fellow owns land. Holds onto it for a long time. sells it for a very good price to a developer. Developer sells lots to builders at a higher price, developer builds a house on spec and then sells it to folks at a higher price, or not and losses tons of money. People get the house on a mortgage from a bank. Folks find they can not make the payments on the mortgage so the house goes to the bank. The bank does not want to own the house. But they can not sell it for what it is worth or what is left owed on the house. If they sell it for less money then what is owed on it they will owe someone money somewhere.
It is like the Potter Field problem. Your money is not really in the bank. Your money is in the houses, your money is in the cars, your money is in some Super PAC.

New Year

Life gets hectic as we know and experience. It is amazing how at times it feels like just a blink and time passes and passes and it gets away.

Resolutions maybe this year, who knows. What is the intent? Not the will do's and will not do's but how to live life. should be interesting to see.

Ornament Making

I got a Contour Head Cam last week. It is an extreme sports type camera that mounts. I made an ornament last night as a test run. Pretty cool.

44

Well I turned 44 last week. At twenty I did not expect to be here now. It is really pretty good.

I have been working on my finances. Getting things in order. Saving a bit. Put some into a Roth IRA. Paying a bit more each month on the house. Starting a new truck fund. Hoping by having some in savings when the time comes for a new vehicle I will have a good start.

In my mind the next thing I really need to focus upon is health. Getting healthy. Get rid of some excess weight. Walk and ride a bit more. Eat well.

Spiritually I believe I am a pretty good place. Keep doing those things that bring peace.

Keep on keeping on I suppose.

FIELD NOTES COLORS Limited-Edition Memo Books

FIELD NOTES COLORS Limited-Edition Memo Books:
I like the new Fire Spotter Field Notes. The dots are great for drawing. Makes for great guidelines without over bearing the drawing with lines. I highly recommend Field Notes and it is something I look forward too coming in the mail. Keep up the good works.

Want vs. Need vs. Don't Need

I have got it in my head I want a motorcycle. It is one of those things that becomes a focus and consuming. Think about it. Look for one. Desire. Weigh cost/benefit analysis.
It is like wanting an Apple Computer. Wanting a new hunting rifle. Wanting a convertible. Wanting a Viking Range. The wants flow through to pass and rise again.
Learning to take action on need and want? Probably not. That one fellow said it leads to suffering. Desire.
Interesting stuff.

why do I have to shrink and go away so someone else gets to grow?"
