Twitter Cheat Sheet
What is it kinda stuff

Hello Sequoyah,

@vperezy on Twitter posted up to the #oklaed hashtag a link to her Twitter Cheat Sheet Guide. It is a very helpful resource for folks wanting to learn more about Twitter and how to make it work for them.

Being

Wondering always how to be with others. Certainly, be yourself is what we are told. But really being ones self is not a good way to walk through the world if and when that way is selfish and self centered. Listening to the david foster wallace commencement speech yesterday. Much on how to go out into the world and be authentic.

On the Phone

So with the changes in education and technology our way to doing things has changed. Five years ago if you were in a meeting and someone was on their phone they were playing a game or texting. Today if you are in a meeting and someone is on their phone they are doing a live tweet of information (hopefully).
Photo from a tweet by rebecca arnold
How can we use the phone in the learning process?
How we harness the technology for teaching? Notice that Dr. Bendick is addressing the group and Cordell is on his phone. Sending a tweet about her key points and adding his own thoughts to the process. Teachers would once be tempted to yell, "Hey, get off your phone." Not anymore.

15%

So I am currently getting a 15% open rate on my daily technology tips. Two weeks ago it was at about 35%. I am wondering if there is something wrong with the MailChimp system and not being able to see the openings or if I am just not reaching people. 113 people on the list consisting of teachers and staff in our building.
So I produce a daily technology tip. You can see them in this blog. Websites of interest. Helpful guides along the way. Answer questions. Why only a 15% open rate?
What am I doing wrong? What can I do differently to engage the audience? What do people want? What do they need? How can I better help in the learning process?

Voice Typing
Transcription in Google Docs

Hello Sequoyah,

I just ran across this help article (https://support.google.com/docs/answer/4492226) on voice typing in Google Docs. I have not tried it yet but it looks very promising. Do you use your phone to dictate? Now you can use a microphone at the computer to type. Oh yes, did you know if you do not have a microphone you can plug headphones into the microphone jack and speak into the earpiece?

Thanks and don't forget to be awesome,
Andy

Moments

I always thought it odd that when the biddha found enlightenment he was there always. That state of being so elusive and yet complete. I heard a few years ago that in the Jewish faith it is common to find enlightenment but it comea and it goes. A fleeting glimpse into that place perhaps. Would like to know more.
So walk through seeking or not seeking, be or do... or both.

Focus

The world is the world. We know its nature. It has good and bad. We experience both. We walk trough life and there it is. Focus is the difference. Where do we focus our attentention, our energies? What do we call in and what do we put out into the world? Even in adversity, even in paradise, in light and dark. Is it our choice?

Notes and Reminders Made Easy

Hello Sequoyah,

I have to write it down. A note, an Email. a text message. If it is not written down I will not remember and there is a good chance that I won't remember even if it is. There are some great services available for notes and reminders. You can automate Google Calendar for event reminders, EverNote is great for note-taking in a variety of forms. I use them every day.

Google Keep (http://www.google.com/keep/) though has become my go to note taking service. Over the past couple of years it has evolved into a dynamic resource. . It syncs across devices so it is always up to date. If you have not looked into please do.

The checklist feature is easy to use and is a great way to create and keep up with a list. I am working on organization and colors, the purpose behind certain colors. So I am working on developing a method of organization to better track my activities and purpose. Green for technology, Blue for email and scheduling, Yellow for ToDo, Red for Household tasks. Maybe, at least it is a work in process.

Thanks and don't forget to be awesome,
Andy

Examination

Being and doing and that pattern emerges. Something is triggering emotions and reactions with conscious thought. Find it recongize it. Trace the issue of where it comes. Accept it, begin to implement change and move forward or let it go if it is not based in reality.

Patterns

Living along do ta do ta do. And then realize something is strange, off, under the surface. Patterns from the past reemerge. Wake up to see these feelings and reactions are based not on today but on long ago and manner of living long forgotten.
